The Port of Barcelona is sandwiched between the new mouth of the Llobregat river and the district of Barceloneta. The large tourist industry in the region have made the Port of Barcelona's largest cruise the Mediterranean, and fifth in the world only behind the Caribbean ports.

The industrial strength of the region have become one of the largest cargo ports in the Mediterranean, through being the Logistics Activities Zone (ZAL) and both have direct access to the center of Barcelona and connections with major ports worldwide .

The port can be divided into: the commercial port (mainly containerized cargo), the citizen port (cruise ships, ferries, leisure areas, the Port Vell), the power port and port logistics. Each of these activities have their own space and segregated from the others, with facilities and personnel spatialized.
Getting There

The oldest part of the port is open to the heart of Barcelona, so that access is easy with public transport. The metro line 3 of Barcelona, at the stop "Drassaness direct access to the area of the ferry terminal and bus lines 59, 14, 91, 57, 157 also provide access to the port. La Rambla in its external Tues communicate with the port city on the Portal de la Pau, where you will find the Monument to Columbus. It also provides shuttle bus service for cruise ships, and direct access to the Ronda Litoral (B-10) for access by car.

An attractive way of looking at the port as a whole and from the heights is the Barcelona air shuttle, which crosses through the air from Torre Sant Sebastia in Barceloneta, via Torre Jaume I the next to the World Trade Center, communicating the port to Montjuic mountain.
